SONOMA

Overlooking the entire Bay Area, this modern interpretation of the ranch house takes cues from the surrounding landscape and reinterprets them with a grand scale. The project was conceived as two courtyards: an arrival space for greeting friends and an entertaining space facing south with dramatic scene beyond. A series of buildings are composed to create shelter and intimacy while preserving views. Oversized glass and steel doors open rooms to the exterior and pay homage to the California ranch heritage; land where cattle have grazed for hundreds of years.
