To capture commanding views of the San Francisco Bay, an addition was erected to the back of this traditional home and an existing stair continued to the attic level family room to open onto a new terrace. The approach was to keep intact, from the street front the historic house while providing space for an open kitchen and family room in the rear. Light is brought in by way of carefully placed skylights along the property line that flood the kitchen through a wall of floating cabinets.
